I tend to preach a bit when it comes to backing up and organizing ones personal computer. When people ask me what the best why to back stuff up I usually tell them to copy their files over to another storage device every so often. I’ve never trusted software to do this for me and never the stuff that come bundled with most external HDD these days. I have no good reason for this bias, I just have it.
Recently though, I have been working from 3 different laptops and in my haste I have managed to have three different versions of an article I have been working on. Along with many other things as well. And guess what! It would appear that I have managed to not havethe right versions with me! So rather then work on something of actual value, I’m writing this post about my own incompetence.
The funny thing is I have things like flash drives and a Dropbox account. Yet here I am not using them. So lesson here folks, do as I say not as I do.
